BI Norwegian Business School

Erling Røed Larsen is a professor II of Economics at BI Norwegian Business School where he teaches Managerial Economics for the EMBA-program. He obtained his Ph.D. in Economics at University of California, Berkeley in 2001, having professor Brad DeLong as his main advisor and professors Michael Hanemann and Clair Brown as co-advisors. He also holds an MA in Mathematical Statistics from the University of California, Berkeley (1999) and a cand.polit.-degree in Economics from the University of Oslo (1995). He is full-time Head of Research at Eiendomsverdi and he has a secondary (20%) position at Formuesforvaltning as Senior Economist.

Røed Larsen has been a Visiting Scholar at University of California, Berkeley (2002-2003) and at Copenhagen Business School (2008-2009) and he has published in international journals such as Economic Journal, Journal of Urban Economics, Economics Letters, Scandinavian Journal of Economics, Journal of Health Economics, Empirical Economics, and Regional Science and Urban Economics. He has written four popular science books on Economics, and "Alt du vil vite om samfunnsøkonomi - men aldri har våget å spore om" was the first. The latest is "Penger", which was published in 2012. He has been a columnist for Aftenposten since 2005 and continues to write "Ukeslutt"-articles every sixth week.

Røed Larsen has founded his own publishing company, Scriptorium norsk forlag AS, and he has advised ministries on current policy issues in the form of analyses. He is a popular speaker and gives a number of lectures on Economics each year for policymakers, business leaders, and the general public. He has appeared a number of times on national radio and TV and is interviewed in the media regularly.
