International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans
Ms. Boertman is customer relations director for the Municipal Employees’ Retirement System (MERS) of Michigan. MERS is an independent professional retirement services company that was created to administer the retirement plans for Michigan’s local units of government on a not-for-profit basis. Ms. Boertman is responsible for the oversight of MERS Regional Teams and Service Center staff, working directly with local governments across the state to provide education on plan administration, plan design and funding strategies, and participant education/financial wellness initiatives. This includes partnering with decision makers at the local level to identify and build plans to address their unique needs as they relate to addressing pension and OPEB liabilities while providing quality benefits for retention and recruitment efforts. Ms. Boertman holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwood University and three executive education certifications in leadership and strategy from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
