Biography

Eric Yip is Managing Partner and the Chief Investment Officer at Alder Hill Management.  Prior to founding Alder Hill, Eric spent 4 years at Appaloosa Management as Senior Analyst from 2010-2014.  While at Appaloosa, Eric was responsible for the firm’s equity and credit investments in the following industries: real estate and gaming, lodging and leisure.  At Appaloosa, Eric also served as lead analyst in a multi-billion dollar portfolio of commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS).  From 2006-2009, Eric was a principal at Columbus Hill Capital Management. At Columbus Hill, he made equity and credit investment recommendations in the following industries: consumer staples/discretionary, retail and real estate. From 2004-2006, Eric was an Investment Analyst at Icahn Associates.  At Icahn Associates, he focused on activist equities and distressed credit investments. From 2002-2004, Eric served as Assistant Portfolio Manager in the Distressed Group at Franklin Mutual Series. He spent 1999-2002 as Assistant Vice President covering high yield and distressed investments at Stanfield Capital and from 1997 to 1999 was an associate in the asset based lending group at Mellon Bank.  Eric graduated in 1997 with a B.S. in Accountancy from Villanova University.  Eric is an adjunct professor at Columbia Business School where he teaches Applied Value Investing.  He lives in New York City with his wife and son.
