Bio
Eric Schwalm is an advisory partner with the Dallas office of Bain & Company. Mr. Schwalm became an advisory partner in 2014 after 28 years of service as a line partner serving multinational clients for the firm. In addition to his advisory work at Bain, Eric also serves on the boards of directors of private companies and non-profit organizations. Mr. Schwalm joined Bain & Company in 1987 and was elected to the partnership in 1993. He led the North American Industrial Practice Group for seven years and currently provides advice and support to the Industrials, Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Private Equity, and Organizational Effectiveness Practice Groups.
While a partner at Bain, Mr. Schwalm led client engagements in the oil and gas, petrochemicals, industrial equipment, building products, automotive, consumer durables, and defense industries. He has experience in corporate and business unit strategy, operations management and cost reduction, brand strategy, supply chain management, channel management, and mergers and acquisitions. During this time, Mr. Schwalm led significant organizational restructurings and change management programs.
Mr. Schwalm has also served as a strategic advisor on the board of directors of Aearo Technologies and Victor Technologies. Aearo, a manufacturer of industrial safety products, was acquired by Permira Advisors in 2006 and sold in 2008 for a 2.2X multiple on investment. Victor Technologies, a cutting and welding equipment provider, was purchased by Irving Place Capital in 2009 and sold in 2013 at a multiple of 3X investment.
Prior to his work at Bain & Company, Mr. Schwalm worked in advanced product development for Ford Motor Company and in the oil and gas sector with Dravo Engineering Company. He earned an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University with distinction. Mr. Schwalm is also a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering with distinction.
