Biography

Ethan is currently Programme Leader, Centre for Lifelong Education. He has worked as an educator and administrator in the education industry for the past 15 years and is a firm advocate of lifelong education. He believes that in addition to developing skills and knowledge, the arts have the biggest potential to nurture personal growth and connection with the community. With his training in applied linguistics and classical music, Ethan hopes to contribute to the NAFA community through his multi-disciplinary insights in the language, visual and musical arts. NAFA’s core values of Passion, Care, Excellence, Creativity, Exploration, and Resilience strongly resonate with Ethan, and he is honoured to be an instrumental part of the Centre for Lifelong Education.

Ethan is a passionate educator who has an excellent track record of student evaluations on his teaching. He emphasises student engagement in teaching and believes in helping students deepen their knowledge, develop their skills, and cultivate their appreciation for their discipline. He is also well versed in various pedagogies such as Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) and Team-Based Learning (TBL).

Before joining NAFA, Ethan has taught major academic writing and communication modules at the tertiary level in Singapore. Ethan is an experienced curriculum developer who has developed courses in academic communication, as well as electives such as Opera and Literature and Communicating and Representing Gender: Language and Discourse. He is also a seasoned academic coordinator who has worked with numerous full-time and part-time faculty members, as well as coordinated major academic courses and multiple workshops at the tertiary level.
