Ellen Enkel is a Full Professor of Business Administration and Mobility, Faculty of Engineering, at the University of Duisburg-Essen. As of 2021, Prof. Enkel also serves as Director for the Institute of Mobility Transformation (MOTION) at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Prior to joining the University of Duisburg-Essen in March 2020, she was Professor of Innovation at the Zeppelin University of Friedrichshafen, where she led the Dr. Manfred Bischoff Institute of Innovation Management of Airbus Group. Important parts of her research on open innovation, digital business models and ecosystems she conducted from 1998-2008 at the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland) as well as visiting researcher at the Harvard Business School (US) and London School of Economics (UK).

Prof. Enkel´s research focuses on digital transformation, ecosystems and open innovation, which she has published in various articles in journals like R&D Management Journal, Technovation, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, International Journal of Innovation Management and Journal of Technology Transfer the last decade. She works with top companies like BMW, Audi, VIG, Airbus and BASF to transfer her research into practice and create impact.

Ellen Enkel is one of Germany´s most renown mobility expert and teaches in many international pre- and post-experience programs; her course portfolio includes Innovation Management, New Product Development and Entrepreneurship.
