Biography

Ellen Engel has served on the Urban Gateways Board of Directors since 2002 and is currently the Immediate Past Chair. She has been a member of many Committees, including Executive and Finance, and currently serves on the Board Governance Committee. She is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and was previously on the faculty at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She has published research on a variety of corporate governance topics, including executive incentives and board of director structures and is a co-author of Cases in Financial Reporting, a casebook for graduate studies in financial reporting courses, now in its 8th edition. Ellen earned her PhD in Accounting from the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University and an MBA from the University of Chicago. Prior to academia, Ellen was an audit manager and consultant with Plante Moran.
