Elizabeth "Betsy" Ziegler is the associate dean, and Chief Innovation Officer for the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. In this newly created role she is responsible for portfolio innovation as well integrating technology into the Kellogg educational experience. From 2011 through September of 2015, she served as associate dean of MBA programs and dean of students. In that role she directed operations across Kellogg's Full-Time, Part-Time and Executive MBA Programs on the school's three campuses in Evanston, Ill., Chicago and Miami and partner campuses in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America.
During her tenure at Kellogg, Dean Ziegler has focused on creating a distinctive student experience from the moment students apply to Kellogg until they join the global alumni community. She has restructured MBA operations to better deliver the school's strategy; partnered with faculty to re-balance the program portfolio to meet market demand; and worked alongside students to create programs such as the Dean's Consulting Alliance and the Kellogg Education Technology Incubator, which give students the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills to enhance the overall student experience.
Prior to Kellogg, she served as a principal in McKinsey & Company's Chicago office where she led the firm's Life Insurance Operations and Technology practice and co-led its Financial Institutions Operations and Technology practice. While there, Dean Ziegler was considered an expert in the area of call-centers across industries, and geographies. She advised a range of clients, from major financial services corporations to municipalities to universities. Earlier in her career, Dean Ziegler worked as an operations manager for GE Capital, where she specialized in managing front-line performance in credit-card-based customer service, credit and collection call centers.
Dean Ziegler holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and received a B.A. in economics from The Ohio State University, where she graduated with distinction.
Dean Ziegler is a member of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago Board of Directors. She also serves as an investor in and advisor for several start-up companies.
