Cork University Business School

Dr. Edward Shinnick is a Senior Lecturer in Economics and is Vice Dean of Accreditation & Governance at Cork University Business School, University College Cork. He received his MA Degree (Economics) from UCC and his Ph.D. from the University of Strathclyde. Dr. Shinnick’s research areas include competition in markets & industries, privatisation, competition policy, regulation, and business strategy, where he has published a number of papers in a wide range of national and international journals, book chapters and edited book volumes. This research output has been presented at numerous conferences, both nationally and internationally. Most recent publications cover the area of, regulatory incentives, economic incentives, and the knowledge economy, regulatory reform in Irish legal services, corruption and governance issues. Dr Shinnick has undertaken economic consultancy work for industry, has served on the Board of the National Consumer Agency (NCA) where he was also Chair of the NCA’s Audit Committee, served as an International Reviewer for the Czech Science Foundation, serves on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Public Policy and the International Economics and Economic Policy. Dr. Shinnick is a former External Examiner at Trinity College Dublin, Kingston University and the University of East London and served as Vice-Chair of the International Network for Economic Research (INFER) and Chair of INFER’s Publication Committee.
