D.B.A. Harvard University He is a recognized expert in the areas of finance and banking. He has held important positions within the Nicaraguan government as Minister of Finance and Coordinator of the Economic Cabinet. He was the founder and first Presidential Delegate of ProNicaragua, the main investment promotion agency in the country. He has served on numerous private and public sector boards. Dr. Montiel was President of the Board of Directors of the Superintendency of Banks of Nicaragua, Director of the Central Bank of Nicaragua and Governor of the Inter-American Development Bank and CABEI, two leading regional banks. He is the author of four books and over 70 articles, case studies and technical notes.
