Derek Ruths is Associate Professor of Computer Science at McGill University. He received his PhD in Computer Science from Rice University in 2009 and works in the area of data science, with a focus on developing methods and metrics for measuring and predicting human behavior from large online data sets. His focus on helping companies leverage their data and technical resources has led to collaborations with Facebook, Twitter, and other social companies. He has founded two start-ups including Macromeasures and is Head of Research and Development at Data Sciences.
