Deborah Talmi

Overview

I am a cognitive neuroscientist, interested in emotional cognition - the effect that emotional value has on our cognitive system. I''ve been at the University of Manchester since 2009, and work as a senior lecturer at the Division of Neuroscience and Experimental Psychology, part of the School of Biological Sciences.

Biography

• Began my higher education as a student in the Adi Lautman Interdisciplinary Program for Outstanding Students at Tel Aviv University, Israel.
• Completed an M.A. in cognitive psychology at that university under the supervision of Yonatan Goshen-Gottstein, focusing on memory, specifically on the distinction between short- and long-term memory.
• Completed a Ph.D. with Morris Moscovitch at the University of Toronto, Canada, investigated how cognitive mechanisms enhance memory for emotional material.
• Further training with Ray Dolan and Chris Frith as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging in UCL, I worked on emotional valuation and emotional biases on decision making.
• Joined Manchester as a lecturer in 2009.
