Biography

Cork University Business School

David Sammon is a Professor of Information Systems who operates according to the principle that “if you can’t draw it, you don’t understand it!” In more recent times, his applied research interests are focusing on seeing the opportunity in data through the use of relational data modelling. He is also co-Founder of the Data Value Innovation Group, helping organisations to deliver value from their data through data value mapping. The Data Value Map (http://datavaluemap.com) is a visual discursive template for building shared understanding around data initiatives. David has published his research work in international outlets, such as: Harvard Business Review, Information Systems Journal, DATABASE, Journal of Enterprise Information Management, Information and Software Technology, and Information Systems Management. He is also co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Decision Systems (a 1 on the CABS Academic Journal Guide and indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index). David is the current Vice Dean for Graduate Studies (CUBS) and Chair of the UCC Academic Council (Information Strategy & Education Resources) committee.
