Daniel Altman

Biography

Daniel Altman joined the Economics Department at New York University's Stern School of Business in 2009. He has taught courses on long-term global macroeconomic forecasting, the role of the private sector in poverty alleviation, and sports analytics. He is also the author of four books: Outrageous Fortunes: The Twelve Surprising Trends That Will Reshape the Global Economy (2011), Power in Numbers: UNITAID, Innovative Financing, and the Quest for Massive Good (2010), Connected: 24 Hours in the Global Economy (2007) and Neoconomy: George Bush's Revolutionary Gamble With America's Future (2004).

Professor Altman is the founder of North Yard Analytics, a leading sports data consultancy. He previously wrote editorials and economics columns for The Economist, The International Herald Tribune and The New York Times, where he was one of the youngest-ever members of the editorial board. He was also the senior editor for economics and global economics columnist at Foreign Policy. He has been an economic advisor in the British government and was a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He currently serves on the expert advisory board of Dalberg Global Development Advisors, where he was previously the director of thought leadership.
