Dan Coleman

Dan Coleman, Ph.D., has spent his career at the intersection design and education. He has developed strategy for Fortune 500 companies, played leadership roles at non-profits, for-profits, schools and universities, and taught a range of subjects to a range of students in the US and abroad.

As a principal at Continuum, a global innovation and design consultancy, Dan partnered with senior leadership at firms including PepsiCo, BBVA, and Johnson & Johnson. Much of Dan’s work focused on helping clients develop within their own organizations the capacity to innovate—by reshaping training, culture, workspace, and operations.

Before working at Continuum, Dan spent 20 years in the world of education, teaching literature, writing, and philosophy at the graduate, undergraduate, and secondary levels (at schools including Phillips Academy, Cornell University, and Stuyvesant High School). In that time, he co-founded a teacher education program at Bennington College, directed the graduate division at Skidmore College, and helped run an independent high school outside of Boston. He also led a professional development program through its nationwide expansion and served as academic director in a network of charter schools in New York City. He has driven learning design for the ELA division of Amplify, an educational technology firm.

Most recently, Dan led the design and build of a radically innovative model of individualized, competency-based, STEM-focused teacher education through a partnership between MIT and the Woodrow Wilson Foundation. He is currently a principal at Danger Fort Labs.

Dan holds an interdisciplinary humanities degree from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in English from Cornell.
