Damian is an applied economist with a particular research interest in

-Teaching and learning/Pedagogy

-well-being

-regional economics

-measurement and coherence of national accounts

He has spent much of his career working in a policy environment. Prior to entering academia, he worked as an economists for the South West Regional Development Agency (SWRDA) and the Office for National Statistics (ONS). During this time he was a member of various groups/taskforces/committees for the Bank of England, European Central Bank, OECD, European Union and UK Government Departments.

Since joining UWE, he has maintained his links with government and is currently an academic assessor for the Government Economic Service. He has also delivered a number of consultancy projects, including for the West of England Local Economic Partnership, the Low Pay Commission and the Office for National Statistics.

Area of expertise Teaching and learning, national accounts; balance of payments; well-being; regional economics; low pay; evidence-based policy making; quality and interpretation of government data. He is also a qualified Prince2 Project Manager.
