Harvard Medical School

Dr. Craig P. Hersh is a physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). He is also an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.

He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine (now the Perelman School of Medicine). He then completed a residency in internal medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a fellowship in pulmonary disease at BWH. He is board certified in critical care medicine, internal medicine and pulmonary disease.

Dr. Hersh’s clinical interests include asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and emphysema. He has authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications, with the majority of his research focusing on the ability of genetics, genomics and epidemiology to improve precision in diagnosis and treatment of COPD. He serves as co-director of the BWH clinical center in the nationwide COPDGene Study sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and as principal investigator of several other COPD studies, including a pharmacogenomics ancillary study to the NHLBI-funded Long-term Oxygen Treatment Trial.
