Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education

Prof Colin Talbot is recently retired from, and now an Emeritus Professor at, the University of Manchester and also a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge.

Before becoming a full-time academic in 1990, Colin had a varied career including working in public service. He has extensive experience of management and organisational development both before and during his academic career. He's also been a consultant to numerous public (and some private) organisations and an adviser to govenrment both in the UK and abroad, He has appeared as an expert witness more than two dozen times in the Westerminster Parliament, Northern Ireland Assembly and Scottish Parliament.

Colin enjoys communicating and discussing ideas about government, in the broadest sense, and what it can, and should, contribute to society and how it should be run. He uses a wide variety of channels to do this including academic publications, professional magazines and newspaepr articles, blogs, TV, radio, social media and is just about to start experiementing with podcasts.

Colin loves engaging with experienced adult learners and experimenting with different ways of learning with and from them.
