Overview

  • May 2013 - current date: Programme Manager on the NIHR EQUIP programme grant working with Professor Karina Lovell and EQUIP colleagues. EQUIP aims to enhance the quality of user involved care planning in mental health services by developing a user/carer-led training intervention for mental health professionals.

  • 2012 - 2013: Research Associate on a RfPB funded study with University of Manchester colleagues Professor Sue Kirk and Dr Debbie Fallon along with Dr Grace Vassallo and Gillian Robinson at Royal Manchester Children''s Hospital to explore families'' needs following severe traumatic brain injury in childhood.

  • 2011 - 2012: Research Associate on a hospice funded study with Professor Sue Kirk exploring how children''s hospices can support young adults with life-limiting conditions and their families.
     

Biography

Claire Fraser is a mixed methods researcher with over 17 years experience of undertaking research, evaluation and feasibility studies for the academic, statutory and third sectors. She has particular interest and expertise in the following areas: research with children and young people; research on family support and parenting; mental health; outcome/process evaluation; feasibility studies and needs assessments; child protection and abuse prevention; and generally, researching sensitive topics. Between 1999 and 2005 she was employed as an academic researcher at the Universities of Huddersfield and then York and in 2005 began working as a freelance researcher in order to provide timely, accessible and cost-effective research and evaluation solutions to a range of clients, including national charitable organisations, local voluntary sector services and statutory agencies. During this period she maintained a commitment to academic research and since 2011 has been employed as Research Associate and subsequently Programme Manager in the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work at the University of Manchester.
