Biography

-

I am a personal, executive and small team coach — I help people and teams be more effective and get more out of their lives and their work. I’m coaching clients via video-call across the U.S. and internationally, and in person in the San Francisco Bay Area. I am a certified coach trained at New Ventures West in San Francisco. You can read more about my approach to coaching here.

As a sometimes blogger, I write about life (how I see the world), coaching (on making life better) and the Enneagram (a personality system to help us grow).

Before becoming a coach, I had three distinct careers: teaching college-level writing and business communications; leadership and technology roles in non-profits; and strategy and marketing leadership for small businesses and startups. What links all of them together are my passion for helping people be their best, my ability to communicate, and my expertise in business.

Background highlights:

  • MBA, Marketing
  • Masters in English (Creative Writing)
  • Certified Integral Coach from New Ventures West
  • Certified Enneagram Coach and Trainer
  • Completed Seth Godin’s AltMBA and Design Your Life workshop
  • Taught writing and communications at small Bay Area colleges
  • Early digital strategy for Colin Powell at America’s Promise
  • Co-founder of Katmango, a venture-backed web infrastructure developer
  • Co-founder of Impact Online, now Volunteer Match.

On a personal note, I am a Canadian-born Californian, married, mother of three, and the baker at The Baker and The Chef. When I’m not coaching or writing, I can usually be found hiking, at yoga class, walking my dog, or planning my next beach trip.

I am happy to hear from you, so please feel free to connect. If you are interested in my coaching services, please read a little more about my approach to coaching and my services here and consider scheduling a complimentary 30 minute call to discuss my coaching and your interests.

My Approach to Coaching

Whether I am coaching a small team, an executive, or an individual for personal reasons, I can:

  • help you see yourself more clearly
  • help you clarify your goals and supports you to take action towards achieving them
  • provide structure and accountability
  • So, why integral (New Ventures) coaching?

Coaching is intended to have a practical impact in your day-to-day life, so an “integral” coach won’t say what “should” work for you based on a learned model but will focus on what will be the most helpful for you right now.

In order to have real, lasting impact, as a coach I see clients as a complete person and consider all the forces of influence; understanding these forces opens the opportunity to make systemic and lasting change, which is much more powerful than simply a set of tools.

As an integral coach I have completed comprehensive training from New Ventures West. My knowledge crosses a broad philosophical spectrum, tapping into the wisdom of both the West and the East, and incorporating discoveries from cognitive science, genetics, and other disciplines. I have also trained extensively in the Enneagram, a powerful tool for understanding ourselves and others in our lives.

Why me?

I bring my years of experience and extensive training to a process that will help you move forward on a meaningful path of your design. I am known for being thoughtful, compassionate, inspiring, and practical. I have:

  • work experience in startups, non-profits and corporations
  • extensive training and certification as coach and Enneagram specialist
  • life experience as an executive, a professor, a friend, and a mother
