Fuqua School of Business

Dr. Chuck Bamford is the Managing Partner of Bamford Associates, LLC, a firm focused on developing actionable strategic plans while teaching leadership teams all of the processes so they can run their future strategy efforts internally. Dr. Bamford led both M&A and corporate training groups for twelve years before pursuing his Ph.D.

Dr. Bamford led both M&A and corporate training groups for twelve years prior to pursuing his Ph.D. He is the author of The Strategy Mindset 2.0 as well as two of the market leading textbooks used in both undergraduate & graduate programs around the world. Strategic Management & Business Policy – 15th edition (Pearson) & Entrepreneurship: The Art, Science & Process for Success – 4th edition (McGraw-Hill).

He is also the author of the fiction novel “Some Things are Never Forgiven.” Chuck has published 18 research articles in the top referred academic journals in the fields of Strategy and Entrepreneurship.

Chuck is a regular speaker at conferences, trade shows, corporate events, conventions & Vistage groups where he delivers (hopefully) inspiring presentations about practical strategy. Chuck has served on the Board of Directors for Exinda Networks, VenturePrise, and Consumer Credit Counseling Service.

He is currently an Adjunct Professor of Strategy at Duke University (Fuqua) where he teaches Strategy Implementation at both the MBA and EMBA programs. He has been a Professor at the University of Notre Dame, University of Richmond, Texas Christian University, and Tulane University among others. He was the lead Professor (TCU & Notre Dame) for International Consulting Immersions in over a dozen countries. Over the past 25+ years he has been honored with 22 teaching excellence awards including 12 Executive MBA Professor of the Year Awards. He was named a Noble Foundation Fellow in Teaching Excellence and a Poets & Quants EMBA Favorite Professor.

Chuck earned his A.S. in Business at Northern Virginia Community College, a B.S. in Commerce at the University of Virginia (McIntire School of Commerce), an MBA at Virginia Tech (Finance) and a Ph.D. in Strategy & Entrepreneurship at the University of Tennessee (with Highest Honors).

Dr. Bamford led both M&A and corporate training groups for twelve years prior to pursuing his Ph.D. He is the author of The Strategy Mindset as well as two of the market leading Strategy (Pearson / Prentice-Hall) & Entrepreneurship (McGraw-Hill) textbooks used in undergraduate & graduate programs.
