Biography

Chris Duff is a Lecturer within the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He works with a number of industrial and academic collaborators, with applications in test and measurement products, non-destructive testing/evaluation (NDT/E) and medical devices. His industrial design experience includes the RF development of TD-SCDMA handsets, E band transceiver design for telecoms backhaul, X band satellite communications high power block upconverter design and microwave NDT/E technology. He holds a medical device patent and has developed technology for the treatment of breast cancer, Gastro-Oesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), skin conditions and generators for veterinary surgery. Dr Duff was involved in the assessment of robust, high power density packaged GaN pHEMT device technology for applications in medical products and later designing for manufacture into satellite communications systems.

Dr Duff is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the IET and the IEEE. He provides material for the MMIC Design and Measurements Summer School at Manchester, supported by Keysight Technologies. This is designed for Masters level students, first year PhDs and Graduate Engineers. Communication Engineering MSc students are eligible for consideration of the award of Keysight Industry Ready Certification.
