Chris Hydock is an Assistant Professor of Research in Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. He is also the Interim Director of the Georgetown Institute for Consumer Research, where we previously served as the Research Director. In his research, Professor Hydock seeks to develop a better understanding of how and why people make real world decisions by drawing from cognitive and social psychology. His research projects span a wide range of topics including: tracking consumer’s climate change opinions and carbon reduction actions, understanding the effect of satisfaction on the consumers’ likelihood to provide brands with advice through survey completion, the impact of nutrition facts panels on health perceptions and consumption, the impact of waiting in line on consumption decisions, the effect of value seeking on retailer choice, and the effects of brands’ political engagement on consumers.

Professor Hydock received his Phd in Cognitive Neuroscience from George Washington University, and his BA in Psychology from the University of Colorado. As an Assistant Professor of Research, Professor Hydock runs the McDonough School of Business Behavioral Research Laboratory in addition to teaching courses in Marketing.
