Cheryl Dickerson

Background

Cheryl Dickerson is a senior lecturer in the Management Sciences department.  She joined Fisher in 2014 after more than 25 years in healthcare administration in hospitals and health systems in urban, rural, and freestanding settings.  Prior roles include Vice President, Clinical Services; Regional Vice President, Ambulatory Services; and, Operational Performance Officer.  Cheryl has led organizationwide initiatives to improve patient flow, clinical quality, and efficiency; and, has educated hundreds of physicians, leaders, and staff in process improvement.

At Fisher, Cheryl teaches Business Operations for Health Sciences and Lean Six Sigma Principles and Projects classes.  She emphasizes the importance of operations leadership in creating value and coaches students to deliver business benefits to service organizations through realworld projects.

Cheryl is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, is certified as a Medical Technologist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and is a Six Sigma Black Belt.

BUSMGT 7701 Managing Business Operations for Health Sciences

Many firms have demonstrated that operations management can be an effective competitive weapon. In conjunction with wellconceived marketing and financial plans, these firms have made major penetrations into markets worldwide. This course is designed to address the key operations issues in service and manufacturing organizations that have strategic as well as tactical implications. Prereq: Enrollment in the Graduate Business Minor in Health Sciences.

BUSMGT 3230 Introduction to Operations Management: Improving Competitiveness in Organizations

Introduction to operations and supply chain management to improve manufacturing and service organizations; analyzing, controlling and improving resources and processes to increase productivity, generate valueadded output and meet business goals. Prereq: Econ 2001.01 (200), 2002.01 (201); and Stat 1430 (133) or equivalent. Not open to students with credit for 3130 (430) or 630, or to students enrolled in UUSS, UExp or PreBSBAPR.

Handson experience in the execution of industry business practices to fill a need articulated by an operating public or private organization. Exploration of current interdisciplinary best business practices in industry. Students will work across business specializations to learn strategy and implementation details from current industry professionals. Prereq: Previous enrollment in 3630.01, or admission to Business Industry Cluster Program, or permission of instructor. Not open to students with credit for 505.01.
