Biography

Catherine Chastenet de Géry is Associate Professor in the Management department (Strategy, Organizational Behavior and Human Resources) at ESCP Europe. She holds a Ph.D. in economics. She has developed her research within the framework of the economics of organizations and institutions. Her work is articulated around 3 axes:

 

Part of her work focuses on the analysis of employment issues, notably on the relationship between continuing education and employment and skills management in various sectors of activity.

 

A second part of her research focusses on the competitivity clusters, particularly on the entrepreneurial performance of the French competitivity clusters and also on the management of skills within such clusters.

 

Finally, more recently, she has been committed to carrying outcollectively-based research studies in the distribution sector. The research focuses on the impact of commercial innovations on the structure of jobs in the retail sector. Other studies funded by the French Franchise Federation explore on the issue of franchisee independence and franchise performance.

 

In carrying out a variety of research studies, Catherine Chastenet de Géry explores the concepts of firms’ networks / territorial issues / competitivity / clusters/ entrepreneurial performance / skills management, using the economics of organizations as a main focus. The latter most often involves a longitudinal and quantitative research methodology, such as exploratory data analysis which enables the emergence of typologies.

 

Catherine Chastenet de Géry has been a member of the French “Commission des Comptes Commerciaux de la Nation” since 2011.

 

Before returning to the ESCP, Catherine Chastenet de Géry was Dean of Faculty at Novancia where she was particularly interested in the issue of enhancing pedagogical innovation. Since then, she has participated in the work and publications of the Pedogogical Innovation group within the Chapter of the Management Schools of the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles. She also contributes to the Pedagogical Innovation Board (DGA Research Teaching Training of the CCI Paris Ile de France) on the question of the development of the pedagogical expertise of teacher-researchers.
