Center for Creative Leadership

Candice is Coaching Practice Leader and Senior Faculty and has been with the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) since 1996. With a background in both business and behavioral science, Candice integrates these disciplines to design and deliver tailored programs for individual, team and organizational effectiveness. She serves as individual and team coach for senior executives in Fortune 500 companies, non-profits, research universities and other organizations willing to think forward. She also delivers Awareness Programs for Executive Excellence (APEX®), an intensive assessment, feedback, and coaching program for C-suite executives. Candice is faculty for Leadership at the Peak, CCL’s senior-level executive development program designed to address the unique challenges of leaders at the top of the organization. Candice is the Global Lead for the Coaching for Human Resource Professional program and designs coaching skill development efforts to support culture change beginning wherever change velocity is located in the organization. Since 2000, Candice has designed and managed large-scale coaching interventions in global organizations. She directs a cadre of top-level executive coaches and has expertise in linking individual leadership development to organizational impact.

Candice graduated with honors from the University of Notre Dame where she was a member of the pioneering class of women bringing co-education to this previously all-male institution. She earned a doctorate in professional and applied clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in applied systems theory. Living in Germany and working in Western Europe rounded out her education in unanticipated ways not represented by her American university degree programs.

Publications include chapters in HBR Guide to Coaching Employees (HBR Press, 2015), CCL’s Handbook of Coaching in Organizations (Jossey-Bass, 2014), CCL Handbook of Leadership Development (Jossey-Bass, 2009), and Handbook of Coaching: A Guide for The Leader Coach (Jossey-Bass, March 2006.

Her experience spans healthcare, education, energy, engineering, entertainment, family-owned business, financial services, government, insurance, law, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, philanthropic, and publishing. Some clients include Memorial Health Systems, Rockefeller Foundation, Shire Pharmaceuticals, PartnerRe Insurance, Getty Images, Mars, Virginia Tech, UCLA, Northwestern University and MTV.

Areas of special interest are senior leader coaching, women’s leadership, and family business succession.
