Brian Tidball is a senior researcher at Philips Sonicare, where he is responsible for product and consumer research for oral healthcare products. He represents the consumer in the innovation and design process, working closely with marketing, design and engineering teams to drive innovation and define and validate product requirements. Prior to this, he was an assistant professor at the U.S. Air Force Academy, where he taught human factors, leadership and systems engineering. He was an interdisciplinary engineer in the Air Force for 20 years, leading R&D for aircraft controls, liquid rocket engines, decision aiding and health monitoring projects for the Air Force Research Laboratory. He has a bachelor’s in industrial engineering from the University of Washington, a master’s in human factors engineering and biomedical engineering from Wright State University, and a level III systems engineering certification and a level III science and technology manager certification from Defense Acquisition University. He earned his Ph.D. in distributed user research methods from Delft University of Technology.
