Biography

Bradley C. Freeman is the Head of the Department of Communication at Sunway University in Malaysia. Previously, he was Professor of Communication & Information Studies at the Mohammed Bin Rashid School for Communication at the American University in Dubai and Assistant Professor at the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication & Information at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. He has conducted research as a selected Taiwan Research Fellow, attached to Fu Jen University, Republic of China. Previously, he lectured in the Media Arts Department at Marist College in New York, West Virginia University, and at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in the Music & Video Business Program.

Professor Freeman is a graduate of the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University (Ph.D. – Mass Communications; M.A. – Public Communication Studies), and the University of Pittsburgh (B.A. – Political Science/German). He was an exchange student at the University of Augsburg, Germany.

Professor Freeman serves as an Editor of Culture, Media & Film at Cogent Arts & Humanities, a Taylor & Francis journal. He also serves as a representative for the Asian Media Information and Communication Center (AMIC). He is the author of several journal articles, book chapters, encyclopedia entries, and books including: Singapore radio: then & now.” Dr. Freeman has been an invited guest speaker at many universities and research centers throughout the world, including Fudan University, Shanghai, China; University of the Philippines, Diliman; De La Salle University, Manila, Philippines; Harvard in Asia; and the prestigious German Studienstiftung program.
