Associate Professor

Bohumir Pazderka is an Associate Professor at Smith School of Business. He received an undergraduate degree in Economics from the School of Economics in Bratislava, and a PhD in Economics from Queen''s University. Dr. Pazderka currently teaches courses in managerial economics in the PhD, MBAST and Commerce Programs, and an undergraduate course in Canadian Business-Government Relations. In the past, he has held visiting appointments at the Ecole Sup?rieure de Commerce, Toulouse, France, the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia, and the Science Policy Research Unit, University of Sussex, Brighton, England. Dr. Pazderka is the author and co-author of numerous publications including a book on economic and social benefits of the stock market, a textbook of microeconomics, and monographs on professional licensing, and on international comparisons of R&D expenditures. His work has been published in journals on professional licensing, the effectiveness of advertising, economics of R&D, pharmaceutical industry patents, and financial systems of the transition economies of Central and Eastern Europe. Dr. Pazderka''s current research focuses on analysis of the determinants of R&D expenditures of Canadian business firms, comparisons of stock market-dominated and bank-dominated financial systems, and valuation of knowledge-based high technology firms.
