Leading this business called for facing a crucible full of challenges, from ownership changes, merging with a competitor, swapping out CEOs, the financial crisis of 2008 that drained 35% of company sales in one year, a parent company bankruptcy and subsequent receivership, coincidental threats from federal agencies to roll up and sell our assets to satisfy a sister company’s pension obligations, bank credit line freezes, lay-offs and much more. Despite all, we remained profitable, signed new strategic partnerships and found a new industry shareholder to fortify our path forward. The business survived and continues to serve customers today.

Following my departure from the CEO role, I began a fresh examination of the subject of leading. And in the course of that study, I recognized that the key and unexpected dividend derived from the harrowing years of chief executive responsibility was the intake filter it afforded me as I absorbed all that I could in preparation for developing and delivering leadership courses.

I have enjoyed 21 formal, individual coaching engagements since 2013. I engage these clients via my own enterprise, Bill Carroll Coaching LLC and via partnerships (per above). I have coached 23 business management teams (founder/owner + senior team) in the pursuit of growth, higher performance, better communicating cultures and closer alignment with customers.
