Biography

Schulich School of Business

Bernie Wolf is Professor Emeritus of Economics and International Business at the Schulich School of Business, York University, where he is Director (and originator) of the Schulich undergraduate Certificate in Managing International Trade and Investment Program. His areas of research include international business education, foreign exchange movements, international trade, and prospects for the global economy as well as global restructuring of manufacturing industries. He has had a keen interest in the Japanese bearings and automotive industries for over forty years.

Born in the US, where he received his PhD in Economics from Yale University. He came to Canada in 1968 and taught at Glendon College for 20 years, before moving to the business school. He has lectured in many parts of the world and has organized many international conferences, both in Canada and abroad. At York University, he has been Director of Schulich’s International MBA Program and Chair of the University’s Honorary Degrees Committee. As an Advisory Council member of Schulich’s new Center for Global Enterprise, he is particularly interested in aiding small and medium size enterprises (SMEs) to expand their global footprint by participating in global supply chains and engaging in both exporting and foreign investment.

Professor Wolf was on the editorial board of two major journals as well as on the executive boards of several scholarly organizations including the Association of Japanese Business Studies. Recently he has made presentations at scholarly conferences on ways to improve university education in international business. In addition to his academic work, he has acted as a consultant and advisor to a number of multinational firms as well as to (SMEs) in Canada, and to various governments.
