Antonia Mantonakis

Professor of Marketing and Consumer Psychology at Brock University

Biography

Antonia Mantonakis holds a PhD and MA in Experimental Psychology from Simon Fraser University, and a BSc (Honours) in Psychology from the University of Toronto. She teaches Consumer Behaviour and Integrated Marketing Communications at the MSc, MBA, and undergraduate level. She has also been an Associate Faculty in the Department of Psychology.

At Brock, Mantonakis is an Associate Fellow of the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute (CCOVI), Brock University’s research institute focused on research priorities of the Canadian grape and wine industry. She runs behavioural experiments out of the Consumer Perception and Cognition Laboratory.

Previously, she was a Visiting Scholar at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and Columbia University, and a Visiting Professor at Thammasat University in Bangkok.

Mantonakis is a member of the Society for Consumer Psychology, and the Association for Consumer Research.

RESEARCH AREA

Mantonakis is interested in studying the psychological factors in consumer decision-making and consumer behaviour. Most recently, her studies have focused on how the design on wine labels can impact consumer perceptions, and thus, purchasing decisions.

In 2006, she was the first Assistant Professor to have research funded by two Canadian standard research grants; the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
