Research
My research interests center on innovation and on supply chains – including innovation in supply chains. This latter area was the topic of my dissertation Innovation in Distribution Channels – an evolutionary approach (EFI, 1998)
Currently, I am involved in a project on postponement in retailing. In this project, we explore how price oriented retail firms, including discount chains, can improve customer adaptation and supply chain effectiveness, by means of postponement. This project is undertaken together with colleagues at the Jönköping International Business School; Professor Susanne Hertz, Dr Helgi Valur Fridriksson, and Hamid Jafari.
Another area that I am currently working on is internationalization in retailing and supply chains. Associate Professor Staffan Hultén and I are doing research on the international expansion of Swedish grocery firms, Dr Angelika Lindstrand of SSE and I are working on the role of distributors in the internationalization of small and medium sized firms, and Dr Benedikte Borgström and I are studying the effects of internationalization of the Swedish grocery market, following the entry of foreign discount firms.
Teaching
This fall, I will be teaching the Supply Chain Management course in the Retail Management program, and the Business to Business Marketing course in the Business and Economics program. I also regularly teach in the introductory marketing courses.
