Biography
Ann graduated from the Open University in 2005 with a BSc (Hons) Psychology, and from the University of Manchester in 2010 with a PhD (Education). She has lectured on the Masters in Psychology of Education at the Manchester Institute of Education, University of Manchester, since 2010, and was Programme Director from 2010-2015. Ann’s teaching focuses on research issues in psychology, human development, and social psychology.
Ann’s primary research interest is the implementation of school-based prevention and promotion interventions, with a particular focus on mental health and social and emotional learning. Collaborative research projects have included the national evaluation of the Secondary Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) programme, and the evaluation of the small group-work component of the Primary SEAL programme, both for the Department for Education. She has recently directed the implementation strand of the evaluation of the Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies (PATHS) programme in English primary schools, funded by the National Institute for Health Research. Current projects include an evaluation of the Good Behaviour Game, and a feasibility study of the Second Step programme, both in primary schools in England.
Ann is a founder member of the UK Implementation Network (UK-IN https://www.uk-in.org.uk).
