Biography

Having completed clinical training in Respiratory and General Internal Medicine in the North West Regional Rotation, I was appointed Senior Lecturer in Asthma and Allergy Research at the University of Manchester and Honorary Consultant Respiratory Physician at Wythenshawe Hospital in January 2005. I was promoted to Professor of Respiratory Medicine in 2011. I have published extensively in the field of early life risk factors for asthma and allergy including genetic and epidemiological studies. Working with collaborators at Microsoft research, we pioneered the use of machine learning techniques in the field, to improve our understanding of phenotypes in allergic disease. I continue to collaborate with investigators at Imperial College London on the flagship award from BBSRC/MRC systems immunology of the human life course award.
