Biography

Androniki Triantafylli received her PhD with Distinction from Athens University of Economics and Business in 2009. Prior to joining Queen Mary Business School in 2013 as a lecturer in accounting, she was a lecturer in management accounting at Manchester Business School, and a post-doctoral lecturer at ESSEC Business School in Paris.

Androniki received her undergraduate degree in Accounting and Finance from Athens University of Economics and Business. She received the highest marks upon entrance to the university and was the recipient of the Chalkiopoulou Foundation Scholarship for exceptional performance during her UG studies.

She then worked for PriceWaterHouseCoopers as an auditor and joined the Ministry of Health as a consultant, where she was responsible for the reform of the Management Accounting Planning of the National Health System (a project financed by the European Union). She subsequently continued her studies in accounting and finance by obtaining her MSc from the London School of Economics in 2005, and immediately progressed on to study a doctoral degree. In her doctoral thesis, Androniki developed a model of the use of management control systems according to strategy in the context of shipping companies, by using mixed research methods approaches.

Androniki has served as an external examiner in a number of UK institutions and has also taught in various universities in the UK (University of London, Manchester Business School, University of Glasgow) and abroad (Alba Business School, University of Piraeus, ESSEC Business School (Paris), Athens University of Economics and Business) at various levels (UG, PG, executive education). She is an advisor to the UK government (HMRC) on inflation (through CIMA).

Her research interests lie in the areas of sustainability reporting, corporate governance, corporate value creation, the impact of the pandemic on the bond and capital markets amongst others. Androniki is currently supervising 3 PhD students and she has received funding for 3 of her supervisions. Androniki welcomes new PhD students interested in pursuing high quality research in the areas specified.
