Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO

Andrey Volkov holds a Doctor of Engineering Science degree. He was involved with the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO from its beginning, and was the first Dean of the School from 2006 till 2013.

He is one of the leading experts in Russian educational policies. While serving as an advisor to the Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, he led a group of experts from the G8 countries on Russia’s educational initiatives.

Volkov graduated from the Moscow Institute of Engineering and Physics (MIFI) in 1984. Between 1984 and 1991, he worked as a research fellow at the Research Institute of Atomic Reactors. From 1991 to 2002, he was one of the founders and leaders of the Togliatti Academy of Management—an educational institution that is known for its innovative teaching approaches.

From 2002 to 2005, Volkov was Vice-Rector of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), where he served as Director for Top Executive Personnel Training Programmes. His clientèle included some of the largest Russian companies, such as RAO UES of Russia and Sberbank, as well as the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and the RF Ministry of Industry and Energy.

Since 2003, Volkov has served as President of the Russian Mountaineering Federation. He was awarded the title of International Master of Sport. He climbed Mt. Everest in 1992. Volkov was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples in 1993, and the Medal of the Order for Merit to the Fatherland in 2006 for his work on Russia’s participation in the G8 Summit.
