Andrew Hartle

Dr Andrew Hartle graduated from the University of Leeds in 1987, and trained initially in anaesthesia in the Royal Air Force, serving in the UK and Germany. He first arrived at St Mary's Hospital in 1995 on secondment and subsequently completed training there after returning to civilian life. After 18 months at Duke University, NC, USA he was appointed to St Mary's in 2002. Dr Hartle was previously lead clinician for anaesthesia, and chair variously of the Clinical Ethics, Organ Donation and Clinical Risk Committees. He was elected to the council of the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland (AAGBI) in 2006, holding the title of honorary secretary before holding the position of president from 2014 to 2016. He is currently the AAGBI's immediate past president for 2016 to 2017.
