Professor Yi is a Professor of Finance at SKK Graduate School of Business , Sungkyunkwan University, where he teaches courses in capital markets, investments, and corporate finance. His research interests are in empirical asset pricing and investments, with a particular emphasis on identifying key risk factors of asset prices in the economy. Topics of recent papers focus on the process by which individuals and institutions process information relevant to the pricing of equity assets and capital market anomalies that can arise from the process.

Prior to joining the academia, Professor Yi has held several professional positions in management consulting and investment banking environments, including National Economic Research Associates, A. T. Kearney, Inc., and Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette. Working with major Fortune 500 companies, leading financial institutions and foreign governments, he has developed investment strategies, provided corporate financial advisory, and evaluated and implemented corporate and managerial strategies.
