Biography
Stanford Continuing Studies
Andreas studied Economics at UC Berkeley, where he was also a walk-on student-athlete for the men's Swimming and Diving Team. He found his niche in applied econometrics, writing a thesis which investigated the causal effects of NCAA D1 sports participation on students' GPA's. After graduating, Andreas worked for several years at The Brattle Group, where he wrote statistical programs to support the expert testimony of Daniel McFadden. Since coming to Stanford, Andreas has TA'd courses in Probability and Statistics, Distributed Algorithms and Optimization, and Software Engineering for Scientists and Engineers. During the summer of 2015, he worked as an intern for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, as part of an effort with Kaiser Permanente research division to predict the early onset of sepsis, an immune response which accounts for nearly half of all deaths in US hospitals. As part of his applied econometric capstone project, Andreas worked with Guido Imbens to analyze hangover effects in professional sports. Currently, he lectures CME 211 and CME 212, in addition to working as a Data Scientist in industry.
