Bio

Andrea Artero is an Adjunct Faculty member teaching the Intelligence Analysis class for the Department of Justice, Law and Criminology. He has over 22 years of professional experience, with the past 14 years working an Analyst in international and national settings. Professor Artero worked for the European Union, first as an Analyst for the European Union Police Mission in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and then in the Case Analysis Unit of the European Union Judicial Cooperation Unit in The Hague, the Netherlands. During his career he has participated in many transnational criminal investigations in the areas of organized crime and counter-terrorism. He holds a law degree from the University of Rome, Italy and a Master’s in International Relations from the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. He is currently serving as the Senior Crime Analyst in the Criminal Investigation Division of a Police Department in the Washington DC Metro Area, working on major crimes and narcotics investigations. Professor Artero speaks five languages and was a Reserve Officer in the Italian Army. In adivition to the US, he has lived in Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Haiti and Bosnia Herzegovina. Professor Artero is a strong advocate and believer of intelligence-led methods and his classes focus on the practical aspect of intelligence analysis, using advanced software directly utilized in the job market.
