Biography
Nyenrode Business University
André Nijhof (1969) is full professor in the fields of Sustainable Business and Stewardship. André is passionate about meaningful work: "But what makes our work meaningful? When we feel it contributes to something bigger than us. Or more concrete, when our work step by step improves the balance between the negative and positive impact we create with our activities. In relation to all the topics included in the UN Sustainable Development Goals." As a professor in Sustainable Business and Stewardship André loves the opportunity to learn about these topics by research and to deepen these insights in educational settings. Much of his recent work has focused on embedding long term value creation in the core processes of an organization. How can we generate good business, that has a positive impact on society and makes our working life more meaningful? And how to combine this with good financial results, not as an objective but as a logical result of good business?
Andre finished his PhD at the University of Twente just before the turn of the century (1999). He is a former chairman of the Dutch Network on Business Ethics and was a project leader in the national research programme on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the Netherlands. André was director of the Full Time Master of Science in Management program and is appointed as full professor since January 2016. He has published extensively in international journals like Journal of Business Ethics, Corporate Governance and Leadership and Organizational Development Journal.
