Biography
Ana Gabriela Loayza is an architect exploring combinations of design, technology and systems for the built environment. She holds a MArch degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Her work addresses intersections between science and architecture through the lenses of speculation, cognition and engineering. Her perspective on architecture as a habitable system invites human-machine interactions and formal investigations in cross-scalar projects.
Loayza received a BArch with honors at Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas and became a registered architect. She worked for Ateliers Jean Nouvel as part of the Cuartel San Martin project team (Lima, Peru). Engaged in independent practice, she designed corporate, social and art installation projects. She was also a professor at Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas School of Architecture. She has earned such academic and professional awards as the Digital Design Prize 2021 from Harvard and the Here for Good award 2014 from Laureate International Universities and was recognized as an Outstanding Young Figure in Academy by the Architects Association of Peru. She loves the ocean and surfing.
