Biography
Harvard Medical School
Amir Tirosh received his MD and PhD in biochemistry from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Sheba Medical Center at Tel HaShomer, and a fellowship in endocrinology and diabetes at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA.
Dr. Tirosh did his post-doctoral training at the Department of Genetics and Complex Diseases at the Harvard T.H.Chan School of Public Health and holds a joint faculty appointment at Harvard Medical School and at Sheba Medical Center and Tel Aviv University. He was recently appointed as the director of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at Sheba Medical Center.
His main research activities include epidemiology and pathophysiology of obesity and type 2 diabetes, and he is also extensively involved in clinical studies and translational projects in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Dr. Tirosh is a member of the Israeli National Council for Diabetes and chair of the sub-committee for type 1 diabetes.
