Aleksandar Šević

Aleksandar Šević is a Lecturer in Trinity Business School since September 2008 and Director of the MSc in Finance Programme since June 2010. Previously he held an academic position at the University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia and was a Research Officer at the Economics Institute in Belgrade, a leading Serbian economics research institution and consultancy house.

He holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Belgrade, MA in International (Economic) Development from the Graduate School of International Relations, International University of Japan, and PhD in Finance from the Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

Recent research focus is on the internationalisation of companies in developed and developing countries and its link to various aspects of Corporate governance and Corporate Finance. In spite of the use of commonly applied metrics in examining the economic activities across the globe it is evident that we have entered a phase whereby the global growth has been supported by an aggressive quantitative easing at various levels and across a multitude of countries.

With an increase in competition among firms and their internationalisation associated with the lack of market expansion it is an imperative to examine whether the behaviour of firms has changed and to what extent vis-a-vis periods prior to the latest global crisis. The aging of the China’s population as one of the locomotives of the global growth in the years to come is a worrisome prospect for analysts, which questions the ability of India and other developing countries to foster global growth prospects. If the global economy is to enter a new phase of slow growth and permanent excesses of labour force it is necessary to re-examine the roles of government institutions and companies, respectively.

Aleksandar is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Charterholder since 2005 and has been involved in the volunteer work on behalf of the CFA Institute since 2011. CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst) Charter was awarded in 2013.
