Biography

DePaul University

Professor Brownlow's interests and teaching span the urban environmental interface. Broadly, his research explores institutions of social control in cities - parks and police, for example - and how these institutions respond to the changing demands and expectations that accompany the transition to a post-industrial, post-Fordist urban economic model.

Dr. Brownlow's writing explores the changing spatial and institutional dynamics that govern and influence fear and safety in the post-industrial metropolis.

Dr. Brownlow received his Ph.D. in Geography from Clark University in 2003.
