Research Interest
Pedagogical research
- Application of blended learning environments (flipped classroom) to engineering education
- Developing software for learning analytics
- Dramatization in education
Scientific research
My main research interest is the development and use of computational models of biological systems at different scales. I have been involved in modelling the function of the heart and the gastrointestinal system in health and disease. Focus areas include:
- Modelling protein kinetics of ion channels
- Biophysical models of the cellular electrical activity that underlies contraction of the heart and the stomach
- Cellular coupling and whole organ electrophysiology
- Development of efficient C++ code for solving large scale finite elements problems in computational biology
