Comprehensive course analysis
About the course
Enhance your leadership skills to position yourself for immediate and future success
King’s College London is renowned for working closely with leading practitioners across a range of professions. This intensive programme blends expert academic and practitioner input, including an in-depth experiential workshop directed by the Tavistock Institute, who are the country’s leading institution in developing and supporting organisational leadership in an applied and practical way.
Course participants will learn, apply, participate and reflect on the principles and lived experience of leadership, both in the sessions themselves and then through an individual work-related project supported by a coach. A final capstone session combines an opportunity to present, network and re-cap so you can continue to implement your learnings long after the course finishes.
The programme is designed for mid-career professionals and managers who are taking on new responsibilities or a larger team. During the course you will:
- Develop your personal leadership skills
- Apply cutting-edge theory to your own workplace and unique management situation
- Understand the dynamics of leadership and team-working
- Learn alongside managers and leaders from other sectors, locations and organisations
Drawing on leading research, the course content is built on two fundamental pillars:
Theory and Evidence
Together we will explore contemporary perspectives on leadership, understand organisations as political entities and how leadership operates in that context, and the role of emotions in leadership (including developing and utilising emotional intelligence effectively).
Experiences of Leadership
You will participate in an in-depth simulation of an organisational system in which you will experiment, step back, observe and notice. You will work and lead across organisational boundaries and research and reflect upon the impact of leadership on others.
