Who should attend

This course is designed to support middle and senior managers working across all industries and sectors and give them the skills they need to maximise their effectiveness and move to the next level. Middle management is a critical component of any business and it deserves a very specific focus. In belt tightening times, middle managers are often squeezed with increasing responsibility from the top and less support from below. The Programme for Management Development will build your confidence and give you the skills boost you need to navigate this terrain successfully.

About the course

Acquire new competencies and move your career to the next level

The UCT GSB Programme for Management Development is dynamic short course designed to equip middle managers with the key competencies and skills to manage themselves and others more effectively and to solve complex problems creatively and sustainably.

The programme runs once a year in Cape Town as a two-week course, and once a year in Johannesburg at the UCT GSB training facility in Sandton in a modular format.

Study with the best

The Programme for Management Development blends theory and practice in an easy-paced way – there are plenty of spaces in the curriculum to give you time to assimilate what you learn. You will also be challenged and stimulated by group learning and discussions. The goal is to deliver actionable knowledge. You will leave with a commitment to work on a real organisational challenge in your workplace, ensuring a return on investment.

Learn to manage in a changing environment

Leadership is not a state - it's a journey, and at the UCT GSB, it's a journey we understand. We know that each leadership stage requires not only a different skill-set, but also a different mind-set and the matching value-set that will help you transition with clarity and confidence.

On the Programme for Management Development you will explore the 5 key mindsets: self, organisation, context, relationships, change. Find out more.
