Attracting more than 400 executives, the annual Asset Management Derivatives Forum brings together market participants from all sides of a trade to examine the latest developments in global derivatives trading and clearing, operations and regulation. Panel Discussion: Margin- Try Telling Your Client It's Not Optimized

September 2020 was a milestone date for the Group of Twenty (G20), as initial margin would have been required for all covered entities above a certain set of thresholds. But, as the final phases of the implementation schedule have approached, the unique structures of asset managers and their clients brought to light key issues with the margin requirements that would have a significant strain on compliance.

This panel will discuss how those structural differences have caused asset managers to rethink the scope of the margin rules, how they burden potential compliance, and ultimately, how the rules may lead to shifting business models.
